Why did you choose this workcamp?
Firstly, Macau is a lovely city which is worth exploring more.
Secondly, I’m preparing a recruitment which is Macau company, I think this experience would good for my
interview.
Is this your first workcamp?
Yes.
Did you have any problems with the application process?
Yes. As a normal tourist, we could apply an L visa that only permit to stay in Macau for 7 days. But the workcamp
would last 10 days. Therefore, I needed an invitation from MNCYA that prove to immigration. Finally I applied
Q visa which permitted to stay in Macau for 14 days.
Are the information sheet and guidebook helpful? Are the aims of the project and direction to the
workcamp clearly described for you to understand? If not, what suggestion(s) do you have?
The information sheet and guidbook are helpful, but I think more pictures will be intuitive.
What are your hopes and expectation at the beginning of the workcamp?
I wished to know more about Macau and make more friends from different countries.
Were the orientation, briefing, or evaluation sessions helpful?
It was good.
What was the best part(s) of the workcamp?
Firstly, the workcamp members were really nice.
Secondly, the leaders always tried their best to support us.
So working with those positive people ,I felt energetic too.
Were your expectations met? If yes, how? If no, why?
I think YES! Meeting people from different background ,countries was challenge for me. I've learned more about
communicating with different people. Everyone had fun in the workcamp because we understand and respect
to each one's religion.
What improvement can be made for this workcamp?
The temperatures were really high on Jun in Macau, and we walked from 10am-9pm for many days. It would be
great if MNCYA arrange a bus to transfer us. Many people tired at night because of walking instead of working.
Do you have any suggestions for future volunteers?
At first, a pair of comfortable shoes are very IMPORTANT.
And then preparing many materials for cultural exchange is necessary.
Was there any conflict/problems (ex. cultural differences) during the workcamp? If so, how was it resolved?
No ,we didn't have culture conflict.
Each project is meant to have an aim and for the volunteers to learn/reflect upon. Was the aim clear in your work? What did you learn?
Yes, it's clear enough for me. This workcamp is not only about Feast of Na-Tcha Parade, but also including many
activities. We spent 4 days walking through the whole old town and paid a visit to many scenic spots, such as
ruins of st.paul, senado square, casa de lou kau. Finally we all understand why macau is called east meets west.
Any additional comments?
As I mentioned, we paid a visit to many famous scenic spots senado square with the helper from Macau local.
But many of us were from different countries. It was hard for them to understand her English that day. I'm sorry
to say that but I don’t mean to offense. It would help a lot if MNCYA invite a helper whom good at English. So
that the volunteers would know better and more.
